So you’ve fallen in love with a pair of earrings, necklace or bracelet, but can’t figure out how to clean it without taking off ALL of the patina?
I’ve got an answer for you!
Supplies You Need
You can buy 0000 Steel Wool at any hardware store along with a small brass brush and soap and water.
Pull off some steel wool and roll it up into a hard ball.
Take your piece of jewelry and start rubbing the ball of steel wool on it to take off some of the tarnish, but not all of it.
I purposely tarnish your jewelry to give it an aged look. To recreate that, just rub off as much tarnish as you can with the steel wool, and the recessed areas should stay dark.
If you want to give your jewelry more of a brushed look, take a brass brush and rub the piece of jewelry with a little soap and water, while brushing your piece.
I recommend you lay your earrings down flat when you clean the ear wires as shown in this video so you don’t distort the ear wire.
Voila! Almost as good as new!
Now, if you don’t want to mess with this yourself, and you REALLY want it to look as good as new, send it back to me and I’ll clean it with my technique of tumbling and polishing.
You just have to pay for the shipping and handling back to you which is $4.00. Just shoot me an email and we’ll set it up.
I recommend when you are not wearing them to store them in a plastic baggy so that the air doesn’t tarnish them to black.
