I sat in the airport yesterday for 7 hours, and had a total of 3 conversations. I was among approximately 150 people. I had two conversations with the gate attendants. They frantically tried to get me an alternative flight because I volunteered to be bumped due to a weight restriction. I was supposed to leave around 2, but ended up leaving at 9 PM. I had another conversation with a woman sitting next to me. She laughed out loud at something she was watching on her phone. But her laugh was so…unique. It sounded like a sound a mouse would make if it could laugh.Read More →

Yep. I’m heading on a three week trip to Arkansas, with a road trip to Colorado, where I intend to pan for gold. Today’s a travel day, so the flurry of activity getting ready for a long trip almost trumped getting my post written this morning, but I found a spot of time. I don’t go through the AIT machines at the airport, so I have to really make sure I abide by the two hour recommendation before boarding. The ‘pat-down’ takes some time, and I get the side eye from passengers and airport personnel, but I don’t care. Last year, I was held forRead More →

If a photo is worth a thousand words, here’s 20,000 words of personal evolution over the course of 58 years. The top row is the story of my beginnings. I was born with a cone head. My father said it scared him to death when we first met, but my mother was in labor for like 24 hours, and my head showed the effort she made to get me out. So what tone did the circumstances of my birth set for me for the rest of my life? I believe it led to me wanting to understand pressure and the growth that comes from tightRead More →

I love baseball. You know why? It’s life. When the hero leaves home plate and makes the journey around the bases, with others trying to take him out, it feels great to watch him slide into home base, triumphant in his return. We’re all runners trying to make it back to home base. The baseball diamond is the heart of the story. You’re born. You start at home, but you need experience so you can grow. So you approach home plate. You need a reason to go out and face some challenges. Life throws some pitches. Which one are you going to take a swingRead More →

I’ve been with Etsy as a marketplace to sell my jewelry for 14 years. But it’s time to transition off of that venue and build out my product line on Squarespace. Etsy has been a wonderful place to sell my work for a long time, but since they went public, the quality of the marketplace has gone down considerably. In the beginning, it allowed for direct sales between the artists and the buyers, and the vibe was pretty pure and direct. If it’s not handmade, you can’t sell it. It was wonderful! But mission creep set in, and Etsy opened it up to vendors andRead More →

A couple of years ago I bought a cheap Amazon rebounder, which is a mini-trampoline. I bought the BCAN, which uses springs, and for the first couple of years, it was fine. With psoriasis, I wanted an easy way to exercise my lymphatic system. I was dealing with a lot of toxicity. A few weeks ago, I upgraded to a JumpSport rebounder, and the difference is night and day from the cheaper one I bought from Amazon. My JumpSport has got more resistance and isn’t as jarring to my joints as the spring rebounder is when you jump longer than 20 minutes. I was ableRead More →
